My Story

Cindy Makita was born and raised in South Africa, with a Congolese heritage, and moved to Miami, Florida in 2014 to attend Florida International University. In 2018 she graduated Magna Cum Laude, as a Worlds Ahead Graduate and as an Honors student.

On her journey to empower women and girls which had always been her passion, Cindy won various teen queen titles during her teenage years that gave her a platform to empower women and girls. She now serves as the leader of the Young Professionals Committee of the US National Committee for UN Women- Miami Chapter, she is the Ambassador for Gender Equality in Miami under the Social Impact Movement, and a Board Member of the United Nations Association- Miami chapter. Her roles allow her to advocate, educate, and raise funds for local and global women empowerment and global sustainability initiatives. She prides herself in being a sustainability champion, and stands firm on re-imagining a world where everyone prospers.

After graduating from college Cindy went on to work as an Analyst in a firm in downtown Miami, but she also identified a need for career guidance among recent graduates and as a result became a Millennial Career Coach through her platform The CG: Your Career Guide.

Cindy also has a creative side. She has been dancing since the age of 5 and has since pursued 9 different styles of dance. She is currently a choreographer in the Afrobeats Dance Style, and hopes to bring Afrobeats to the forefront of modern dance culture. Cindy is also a model, speaker, personal trainer, lover of Christ and her most recent accomplishment was being crowned Miss African Roots USA 2019.

The "Possible" Mindset.

The opportunities this world has to offer are limitless, but they only come within arms reach if you take a step of faith into what might seem like "impossible" territory. You are more than capable of achieving even the impossible when your mind is in the right place. Put fear aside, do what you love & what you're passionate about, trust in God and all things will work out far beyond the expected.
